When I first started writing Tiny Life, way back when the entire series was called Jed Jr. (as opposed to just one novel in the series being named “Jed Jr.”), I decided to have a dream sequence in every novel. Each one would foreshadow (and recall) certain important things that would happen later (and earlier) in the series. But I would do it in code. I was very clever. If you’ve read “l(a” or “left,” you know that I have a short dream sequence in both. If you’ve looked at any of the older stuff, you’ll also notice where some of this dream material comes from.
I had one all written out for this next book. It would talk about a few things that will happen a little later (like in the book after next) and a few things that would happen a LOT later (like the choice Jed has to make in the last and/or second-to-last novel). But as it is right now, in this almost-final draft, this next book looks to be about 180 pages, maybe more. And I still have to write a pivotal/funny scene between Jed and Fred. This means I should cut out sequences wherever I can. I already cut out a major scene at the end of chapter 12 that highlighted the repetitive nature of Tiny Life (another scene happens just two chapters later almost exactly like it. I’m all for repetitiveness when it’s appropriate and necessary, but this one seems redundant. It makes the later scene, one of the climatic scenes, somehow less important and easily predictable), but I’m going to have to cut a little more.
It’s going to be either the dream sequence of the hentai scene. And I know how you guys love your stylized cartoon pornography.
